About us

With over 60 years’ experience, HealthComp is a third party administrator (TPA) committed to providing customized full service offerings including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, COBRA, HIPAA, flexible spending accounts and reference based pricing.

We have dedicated representatives available to answer questions and walk through our offerings for brokers, employers, members and providers. We work with national health and technology vendors and partner with various payer constituents across the country.

To expand our reach and services, we’re continuously seeking and acquiring like-minded TPAs to join the HealthComp family.

Meet the team

Chris Michalak

Chief Executive Officer

Chris is responsible for leading the company’s global growth strategy and helping clients unlock the full value of their healthcare investments to drive better health outcomes.

Before joining Virgin Pulse in 2021, Chris served as CEO of Alight Solutions, a $2.3B leader in benefits, payroll and cloud solutions. He brings more than two decades of healthcare, technology and HR industry leadership experience to his role at Virgin Pulse.

A firm believer in the correlation between health, wellbeing and successful outcomes, Chris also serves on the board of directors of GENYOUth, a leading national youth health and wellness nonprofit dedicated to creating healthier school communities.

Andrew Boyd

Chief Transformation Officer

As Chief Transformation Officer, Andrew is responsible for overall integration and value creation efforts. Prior to this role, Andrew held senior strategy, commercial leadership and general management positions at Virgin Pulse. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the SaaS/software industry.

Richard Boylan

President and Chief Operating Officer, Virgin Pulse

As a member of Virgin Pulse’s founding leadership team, Rich now leads and oversees Virgin Pulse operations, including product and technical development, implementation and general operations.

Prior to Virgin Pulse, he worked closely with several Virgin businesses including Virgin Cars and Bikes, European car rental businesses and telecom/data strategies.

He has more than 10 years working with web-centric and tech-focused start-ups for Virgin.

Scott J. Charles

Chief Financial Officer

Scott J. Charles has 25+ years of experience and a record of accomplishment across a spectrum of financial operations in public and private environments. Scott currently serves as CFO at HealthComp.

Prior to HealthComp, Scott served as CFO for Cytel, the largest provider of statistical and software advanced analytics for clinical trial design and execution. Scott played a lead role in the growth of Cytel globally and successful sale. Before joining Cytel, Scott served as CFO of Aralez Pharmaceuticals, a publicly-traded, specialty pharmaceutical company. Prior to Aralez, he served as the Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at Ikaria, Inc., a critical care pharmaceutical company. Scott played a lead role in the spin-off of Ikaria’s R&D operations and IPO and successful sale of its commercial business.

Earlier in his career, Scott served as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at Reliant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Previously, at Arthur Andersen, LLP, Scott was a Manager in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services practice.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bucknell University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Di Holman

Chief People Officer

Di guides all aspects of Human Resources, including business partnering; talent management; total rewards; internal communications; and diversity, equity, inclusion across all global-wide locations.

With more than 25 years of high-performance and cultural expertise, she previously served as Managing Director of Global Talent Management at Moody’s and Chief People Officer and Chief Talent Officer at Athenahealth.

Di prides herself on being with and supporting organizations who recognize culture and its people as a competitive advantage to support its customers, accelerate growth and deliver exceptional business results.

Chief Medical Officer

Jeff Jacques, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Jeff Jacques, MD, is a physician executive leader and entrepreneur who has spent more than 20 years in digital health, building products and services that deliver personalized support for individuals experiencing complex care journeys. As Chief Medical Officer at Virgin Pulse, he focuses on ensuring alignment with member and market needs, enhancing the company’s behavior science approach, and exploring additional ways its unique capabilities can further simplify and support the member journey.

Jeff’s personal experiences and frustrations with the healthcare system ignited a passion for solving complex health problems, driving much of his career. He was previously CEO and co-founder of CareTribe, a digital health platform dedicated to supporting the needs of family caregivers. It was acquired by family support company Cleo in 2022. He also held leadership roles with CVS Health/Aetna for more than a decade, including as founder of NeoCare Solutions, a CVS Health/Aetna business supporting the parents of premature infants in the NICU, and as chief clinical innovation officer at ActiveHealth Management, a CVS Health company.

Jeff was a member of the Food and Drug Administration Safety Innovation Act (FDASIA) Workgroup and has held several non-profit board positions. He trained in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, part of the Mount Sinai system in NYC.

Amit Jain

Chief Technology Officer

Amit valiantly leads Virgin Pulse’s Engineering and Technical Operations functions.

Before Virgin Pulse, he served as Chief Technology Officer from Retail Solutions Inc (RSi) and helped build and execute a highly successful SaaS platform for global retailers and consumer goods companies.

Chief Marketing Officer

Erica Morgenstern

Chief Marketing Officer

Erica is accountable for overall marketing initiatives and operations, including demand generation, field marketing, corporate communications, brand and product marketing.

Previously, she served as Chief Communication Officer at Welltok and led communications and investor relations for Epocrates, a medical app company used by half of the physicians in the U.S. She specializes in guiding companies through the critical start-up to high-growth phase with funding, mergers and acquisitions and IPO activity.

Erica has an invigorating energy and proven track record of executing effective and creative communications to increase awareness and stimulate action.

Justin Tran, CGO and EVP of Product Strategy

Justin Tran

Chief Strategy Officer

Justin serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at HealthComp. He has 8 years of experience in developing and delivering solutions that reduce health care costs, improve quality, and provide a best-in-class experience for members. Most recently, Justin was an Associate Partner and business unit leader at McKinsey & Company where he helped large carriers and healthcare technology companies build new clinical services and solutions for fraud, waste, and abuse. Justin earned his B.S. in Accounting and Data Informatics from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Laura Walmsley

Chief Commercial Officer

Laura leads the company’s commercial go-to-market-strategy with responsibility for all client-facing teams including employers, health plans & systems and international, and marketing.

She enthusiastically brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in sales, marketing, account management, product and reporting. She also has experience working with Fortune 500 companies, national and regional health plans and mid-sized employers to identify and deploy game-changing solutions.

Laura thrives on growth and is passionate about empowering people to be their best—whether they are her internal colleagues or customer and consumer populations.

Jeff Yoshimura

Chief Product Officer

Jeff is responsible for supporting the success of Virgin Pulse’s business, employees, customers, partners, and users through a competitive and compelling product roadmap.

A respected leader in the product space, he is highly skilled bringing business leaders, designers, engineers, and customers together to collaboratively build and launch consumer friendly, enterprise grade software solutions.

Prior to Welltok and Virgin Pulse, Jeff’s career and experience spanned across the technology space, including corporate IT and process, IT security, sales engineering, and product management. He holds degrees in Finance and Information Systems from the University of Illinois.
